Champs Junior Sculling Head

For one last time, the 2017 Junior Sculling Head will be a CRA-only race due to redevelopment of the Race HQ site.

Thanks so much for your patience while race HQ is redeveloped. The 2018 race will be back to being a BR event and we look forward to welcoming crews from around the country back to the Cam.

The main boating area and Race HQ are usually based at the Combined Boathouses and these are currently undergoing extensive redevelopment which means they will not be available for use for the Sculling Head. We have explored other alternative venues but none of them are suitable for the event.

We will run a smaller CRA event for CRA club juniors on Sunday 19th March 2017.

DIVISIONS

Div 1: 12:00, Div 2: 14:00.
There will be sufficient time between divisions to allow crews to double-up, and will permit boat sharing across divisions.

The course runs upstream from The Plough pub at Fen Ditton to the Penny Ferry pub at Chesterton (1450m).  The race will use a rolling start on the Plough Reach.

There is excellent towpath access along the whole course, which makes it an ideal event for juniors. Bring a bike or your trainers and you will be metres away from your scullers!

ENTRIES ARE INVITED FOR:
1X & 2X (J13, J14, J15, J16, J17 & J18), 4X+/- (J13, J14 & J15, J16, J17 & J18)

(CRA clubs only – off Cam CRA clubs must provide evidence of permission to boat from an on-Cam club before entries will be accepted)

AGE CATEGORIES
J13, J14, J15, J16, J17 & J18
WJ13, WJ14, WJ15, WJ16, WJ17 & WJ18

Competitors who have not attained 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 or 18 years of age respectively before the first day of September preceding the event are eligible for the matching category.

Please note – doubling up is at the discretion of parents/coaches (please take account of the age/experience/stamina of the rowers when considering doubling up)

We recommend that where possible single sculls and double sculls (particularly J16-18)  select divisions 1 & 2 as below; all quads select any division. These are recommendations and are not obligatory, in order to provide competing clubs with complete flexibility for boat sharing etc. but also giving the opportunity to compete in similar conditions with your opposition.

Division 1 Men’s 1X & Women’s 2X

Division 2 Men’s 2X & Women’s 1X
